Drake Library Receives $10,000 American Library Association Grant

Drake Memorial Library has receives a $10,000 grant from the American Library Association initiative to improve study room accessibility.

Drake Memorial Library has been selected as one of 240 libraries to participate in an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.

The competitive award comes with a $10,000 grant that will help the library make the popular individual and group study rooms more accessible to students and other patrons with mobility difficulties.

To ensure the best possible use of grant funds, staff will host a conversation with SUNY Brockport community members about the accessibility of Drake Library study rooms and use the grant funds to purchase furniture or make structural improvements to these spaces.

If you are interested in getting involved or taking part in the conversation, please contact Bonnie Swoger at bswoger@brockport.edu for more information.

The award will be administered by The Research Foundation for SUNY under the Scholarship, Research & Sponsored Programs Office.
