New Process for Making Documents Accessible for Everyone

SUNY Brockport is launching trainings designed to teach our community how to create accessible documents; a new process will be phased-in to ensure only accessible documents are uploaded to the college website

As part of SUNY Brockport’s ongoing commitment to becoming a more accessible institution, a new process has been put into place to learn how to create and disseminate accessible documents.

Beginning next month, BITS will be offering regular training that teaches our community how to create accessible documents. Not only is ensuring document accessibility the right thing to do but it is also required by law. Beginning this summer, the Web Team will begin phasing in a new process that will ensure only accessible documents are uploaded to the college website. That Document Accessibility process is outlined online.

In order to provide sufficient time for training, this accessibility requirement will begin for 12-month employees effective July 1. The new accessibility requirement will begin for 10-month employees effective October 15.
