Chemistry & Biochemistry Professor Co-Publishes Article in ACS Publications
Dr. Mark Heitz, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, published an article with colleagues from University of Missouri and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Dr. Mark P. Heitz, in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, recently published an article titled “Ionic Liquid-Controlled Shape Transformation of Spherical to Nonspherical Polymersomes via Hierarchical Self-Assembly of a Diblock Copolymer” with collaborators from the University of Missouri and the Indian Institute of Technology in ACS Publications Journal.
This article communicates work on a promising polymer based platform with potential applications for designing biodegradable soft dynamic systems, cancer-targeted delivery systems, diagnosis and imaging-guided therapy, and controlled release of therapeutic drugs for disease treatment. Results also suggest an improved potential for more efficient drug uptake, especially against viruses that are better treated via pulmonary drug delivery strategies.
