UUP Waiver of Compensatory Time for Holiday Work for 2021-2022

The 2016-2022 Agreement between New York State and United University Professions provides UUP employees the option to choose additional compensation instead of compensatory time off for time worked on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

Employees who are represented by UUP and who are eligible for compensatory leave for working holidays, are provided with an open period each year in which they can choose to be compensated for time worked on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. The open period runs through May 15, 2021. During the open period, employees in the UUP bargaining unit who are required to work on Thanksgiving Day 2021, Christmas Day 2021 or New Year’s Day 2022 may elect to choose additional compensation instead of compensatory time off for time worked on those holidays.

UUP employees who wish to receive additional pay instead of compensatory time off must complete the UUP Waiver of Compensatory Time for Holiday Work form and return it to the Payroll Office by May 15, 2021. Employees who those wish to continue receiving compensatory time off for time worked on Thanksgiving Day 2021, Christmas Day 2021 or New Year’s Day 2022 do not need to complete the waiver form.

UUP employees will continue to receive compensatory time for working on all other State observed holidays.
