Mahmoud Atalouli published an article that explored the integrated-skill approach to reading and writing, with a focus on synthesis writing in the context of intensive English programs.
The article emphasizes the challenges faced by international undergraduate and graduate students who use English as an additional language in undertaking synthesis writing tasks. The study investigated an integrated-skill approach, Reading-to-Critique (RTC) and Reading-to-Synthesize (RTS), to address challenges in synthesis writing faced by international undergraduate and graduate students in intensive English programs. The research was conducted in the United States and revealed students’ positive responses to scaffolded activities and structured tools, emphasizing critical reading and writing skills.
