Physical Education Student Teacher Candidates Participate in Mock Interviews
On December 14, 2023, student teacher candidates from the Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) participated in on-campus mock interviews.
The purpose of the session was to offer physical education teaching candidates an authentic interviewing experience. Local school district administrators were invited to conduct individual mock interviews, with each administrator interviewing approximately three to four candidates. Following the interviews, time was set aside for debriefing. The seminar served as a valuable culminating activity for the candidates’ capstone experience. Dr. Sue Baldwin, Director of Health & Physical Education at Buffalo Public Schools, was the featured guest speaker.
Additionally, during the event, the PETE faculty presented the Dr. Eugene F. Orbaker Award for Excellence in Student Teaching and Engagement. This award acknowledged a teaching candidate who demonstrated exceptional dedication and performance beyond expectations during their student teaching placements. Kyle Wilcox was the recipient of this prestigious award.
