KSSPE Faculty Present on COIL at International Motor Development Teaching Conference
Dr. Pamela Beach and Dr. Melanie Perreault from the Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) presented at the inaugural International Motor Development Research Consortium Conference on Teaching Motor Development hosted virtually by the University of Texas at Arlington on November 9-10, 2023.
Their panel presentation titled “COIL: A Model for Increasing Intercultural Competence in Motor Behavior” focused on how to use Collaborative Online International Education (COIL) in motor behavior courses to increase student intercultural competence. Their presentation was well received and lead to the formation of a COIL special interest group with IMDRC.
Dr. Beach and Dr. Perreault frequently COIL their courses on motor learning, motor development, and physical activity in adulthood with international colleagues in Europe and the Middle East and are active members of the COIL Committee on campus.
