Mathematics Majors Present at Conference
The 2023 Fall meeting of the Seaway Section of the Mathematics Association of America was held Saturday, October 14, at St. Bonaventure University. Sophia Tiffany and Kaleigh Perkins were among three undergraduate student presenters, respectively On Some Prime Numbers Inequalities and A Buffer Inequality.
Both students conducted their work under the supervision of Dr. Prajitura.Sophia explored a certain type of general inequality for prime numbers and show that in all cases it is eventually true. Based on this general result and some numerical experiments Sophia ran, Dr. Prajitura and Sophia determine exactly the range for which five particular cases are true. Kaleigh improved a well-known inequality by succeeding to put a buffer in between its terms.
