Mathematics Alumni Discuss Actuarial Profession
Alums Tyler Neilans ’17 and Kelsey Beely ’18 who work as actuarial analysts for Excellus BCBS, hosted an in-person, networking opportunity for students interested in learning more about their internship program.
In September they returned to campus and shared with mathematics majors their insight on the actuarial profession including:
- how to use career services at Brockport to polish up one’s resume and cover letter
- which courses proved most beneficial toward their career
- how to apply one’s academic background to business problem
- show to prepare for actuarial exams and how much time to devote to it
- how to network and move across divisions
- how to build transferrable skills
