Dr. Jacob Straub, Environmental Science and Ecology, received funding from Ducks Unlimited to continue to study North American Mallard populations.
Research Scientist in Environmental Science and Ecology, Dr. Jacob Straub, received funding from Ducks unlimited to continue to study eastern North American mallard populations. The funding will help support a graduate student and focus on finding and monitoring mallard broods (i.e., ducklings) using unmanned aerial drones. A key aspect of the research that has been missing until now is having a better understanding on survival and habitat use of mallard broods. The work will begin in the spring of 2024 and continue through 2025.
The award is administered by The Research Foundation for SUNY under the Scholarship, Research & Sponsored Programs Office.
