Working with Harvard colleagues, Dr. Carol Wade and Dr. Chris Wilkens published an article on Four Component Instructional Design (4C/ID) Model from cognitive load theory to better understand how instruction can improve the learning of complex tasks. The new Secondary Precalculus Calculus Four Component Instructional Design (SPC 4C/ID) model, from the Factors Influencing College Success in Mathematics (FICSMath) national study, has been designed for secondary mathematics teachers to provide support for preparing students for college calculus success.
