Become a Leadership Development Mentor by September 22
Students in the Leadership Development Program identified mentors as one of the most beneficial components of the program. Build a one-on-one relationship with a student and support them as they clarify their values, identify their strengths, and develop their leadership skills.
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) at SUNY Brockport is looking for volunteer mentors for students in the program. We currently have 50 registered students and are still counting. We are looking forward to a bigger LDP Green Level One cohort this Fall. Volunteer to become a Leadership Development mentor by completing this Mentor-Pairing Questionnaire by September 22, 2023.
Once paired with a student, mentors will meet with their student at least monthly throughout the academic year, though many mentors and mentees choose to meet biweekly.
Mentoring Options
Become a Green Mentor: The Green Leadership Certificate is the first level. All students begin the program with the Green Leadership Certificate, where they develop their leadership capacity and focus on their individual values. All Green students are paired with a mentor who helps them process their learning from the workshops, conferences, and activities.
Become a Proud Eagles (LGBTQIA+) Mentor: Proud Eagles is a component of LDP, which supports marginalized students on our campus. Proud Eagles serves LGBTQIA+ students who wish to learn more about their orientation identity development, intersectionality, resources/community service, social justice, the LGBTQIA+ rights movement, and empowerment. This will be accomplished through mentorship and workshops.
Become an In Living Color (BIPOC) Mentor: In Living Color is a new component of LDP. Students will learn about their place within Racial Identity Development as well as how racism, internally and externally, has affected their lived experience. This will be accomplished through mentorship and workshops.
