Environmental Science & Ecology Professor Awarded $69,927 in Funding

Dr. Jacques Rinchard was awarded $69,927 from the U.S. Geological Survey - Lake Ontario Biological Station, through the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit network, to continue to monitor thiamine in lake trout eggs from the Great Lakes Region.

Dr. Rinchard, in collaboration with Environmental Science and Ecology graduate and undergraduate students, will provide lake trout egg thiamine concentrations to managers of the lake trout restoration programs across the Great Lakes Basin, which includes lakes Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie, Ontario, Champlain, and Cayuga. Thiamine deficiency remains one of the impediments to lake trout recruitment.

The award will be administered by The Research Foundation for SUNY under the Scholarship, Research & Sponsored Programs Office.
