Antiracism Education Organization Graduate Student Fellowship

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is sponsoring a graduate fellow from any Brockport academic department to work as the Membership and Community Ambassador for 540WMain, a virtual non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and antiracist education brand that promotes justice for all.

OEDI has been working in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, Department of Women & Gender Studies, and Department of African & African American Studies to build a more sustained partnership with 540WMain. As an element of this community building, Brockport has been sponsoring a graduate fellow to work with and learn from the depth of educational, community, and historical knowledge at 540 and to support them in their growth.

The Graduate Fellow collaborates with the Founder/CEO and Operations Manager as the Membership & Community Engagement Ambassador to serve as a brand ambassador for 540WMain, Inc. and engage with potential organizational members and building relationships with existing members. Last year’s fellow, Allison Klee, made a huge impact. Allison’s work included starting a committee of donors and supporters called “Friends of 540” to support the organization’s endowment fund; organizing events for community members, donors, volunteers, and staff; attending community local partnership events both in person and virtual including Writers and Books, The Gandhi Institute, Teen Empowerment, The Yards Collective, and more; and helping to plan the Gentrification Conference 2023.
