Dance Professor Commissioned by Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company

Kaley Pruitt (Assistant Professor of Dance) will be in creative residency with Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company this month to create a new contemporary modern dance piece.
Pruitt has been commissioned by Artistic Director Jessica Heaton to make a new work on six of their company dancers. The new piece explores how we have less inhibition when we are children and the moments we find that freedom again as adults. It is whimsical, playful, energetic, free, carefree, and cathartic.
The work incorporates dynamic partnering and pedestrian locomotor movements to create a world where the dancers are completely enthralled by the actions and encounters they have with each other rather than “performing” for the audience. This dance will premiere in the Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company Fall Season in November at Orem Library Hall in Orem, Utah.
