Seymour Union Will No Longer Provide Laptops in Meeting Rooms
Effective July 1, 2023, laptop computers will no longer be provided in meeting rooms throughout the Seymour College Union.
This change has been implemented due to increasing technology costs, issues of theft/vandalism, and the University’s emphasis on issuing laptop computers to faculty/staff members. Moving forward, event hosts are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer to events held in the Union. Each meeting room is equipped with technology that allows the event host to connect to the room’s A/V equipment.
SULA has a limited number of laptops available for rent if the event host is unable to provide a laptop for their event. Rental laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be reserved in advance of the event. To reserve a laptop, the event manager must fill out the corresponding section on the faculty/staff Room Reservation Request form. The event host can pick up their rental laptop on the day of the event. Laptop rentals must be returned immediately following the end of the event. Details regarding laptop pick up and return will be provided in the event confirmation message.
Please note that the desktop podium computer in room 220 will not be removed once this change is implemented. Event managers will not need to rent a laptop computer to use during events held in this room. However, since this room is equipped with wireless connection technology, the event host can connect a laptop to the projection system if necessary.
