2023-2024 Holiday Pay Waiver for Classified Employees

The collective bargaining agreements allow Classified employees to choose compensatory time off instead of additional compensation for holidays worked.

Employees in the CSEA, PEF, NYSCOPBA, PBANYS bargaining units, and those who are Classified M/C, may elect compensatory time off instead of additional compensation for holidays worked.

Classified employees who wish to receive compensatory time off instead of additional pay must complete the Waiver of Additional Money for Holiday Work form and return it to the Payroll Office by June 2, 2023. Employees who currently have a waiver on file to receive compensatory time off and wish to instead receive additional pay, must also complete the form and return it to the Payroll Office by June 2, 2023.

Waivers currently on file will continue to be honored with the option employees previously elected. Employees who do not have a waiver on file and wish to continue receiving additional compensation as provided for in the Agreements for any holiday worked, do not need to complete the waiver form. Those employees will automatically receive additional compensation for any holiday worked.

As used in the Agreements, the term “holiday” means New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or any day designated by the State to be observed as a holiday in lieu of such holiday and any other day designated as a holiday by the Governor.

Forms can be emailed to Debbie Looney, faxed to (585) 395-5275, or sent through interoffice mail by June 2, 2023.
