How do Canonical Books Uphold Violent Beliefs & Systems?

Dr. Kathleen Colantonio-Yurk and Dr. Henry “Cody” Miller (Department of Education and Human Development) along with doctoral candidate Shelby Boehm (University of Florida), and Dr. Brittany Adams and Dr. Gillian Mertens (both SUNY Cortland) published an article in Changing English: Studies in Culture and Education.

The article, “Naming and Challenging Rape Culture in English Curriculum: A Framework for Teaching Canonical Texts with Contemporary Adaptations” was published in Changing English: Studies in Culture and Education. The article offers curricular and pedagogical suggestions for teaching about sexual violence in rape culture through canoncial books and accompanying young adult literature adaptations.
