Multi-Factor Authentication Changes Coming April 27

On April 27, 2023 Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be changing to add number matching to Authenticator App notifications. These changes are being made due to a requirement from Microsoft to combat “MFA Fatigue” attacks.
If you are currently using the Microsoft Authenticator App with push notifications, on April 27, 2023, you’ll be required to use number matching to authenticate. Microsoft is forcing this requirement to increase security and combat MFA compromises. When you login on April 27 to approve your MFA push notification you’ll be presented with a number on the screen of the device where you are logging in, you will type that number into the prompt on the app and click approve.
Please Note: If you’re using an Apple Watch to allow push notification this function will no longer work. Apple Watches are incompatible with number matching. You will need to authenticate with your phone.
For more information about the various MFA methods and their security, please see the MFA Options Ranked from Most Secure to Least Secure.
