Drake Library and SUNY Brockport student athletes teamed up for their first post-pandemic Giant Read. This year, 28 student athletes from 11 Brockport teams, librarians, and Ellsworth attended the Helen Barrett Montgomery School. The athletes read Pete the Cat and participated in interactive activities with 60 first grade students. Everyone had an excellent time!
The Friends of Drake Library contributed custom school resource bags that included school and personal hygiene items. Thank you to librarians and athletes that attended and the library student staff for assembling the goodie bags. We are grateful to Weinstein Dental Group for toothpaste donation. Special kudos to Steve Pike, Brockport Assistant Athletic Director, Lakisha Taylor, School 50 Principal and Brockport alum, Michael Hall, PE teacher and Brockport alum, Julie Marciano, First Grade Teacher and Brockport Alum, Bonnie Swoger, Library Director, Jennifer Kegler, Librarian, Mary Jo Orzech, Librarian, and all who contributed to making this year’s visit a successful, memorable event.
