Environmental Science & Ecology Assistant Professor Grant Funded by Missouri Department of Conservation
Kristen Malone, Assistant Professor, Environmental Science & Ecology received a two-year $89,188 grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Dr. Malone and graduate student will conduct research to determine the distribution of King Rail in Missouri and identify the relationships of habitat and wetland management practices site use in Missouri.
Identifying where King Rail occur and wetlands with suitable habitat can provide resource managers with critical areas to prioritize for population monitoring, management actions or restoration that could benefit King Rail populations. This project represents a critical first step to focus conservation efforts and management strategies for the King Rail in Missouri.
