Director of Financial Aid Participates in Virtual Advocacy Pipeline

Dr. Kimberley Willis, Director of Financial Aid, was invited to participate in a virtual Advocacy Pipeline on February 23 by National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators’ Government Relations and Policy Office.

Dr. Kimberley Willis, Director of Financial Aid, was invited to participate in a virtual Advocacy Pipeline on February 23 by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators’ (NASFAA) Government Relations and Policy Office.

This program allows financial aid administrators to advocate directly with Congressional offices and share on-the-ground persepectives with policymakers. These meetings were with staff members from Representatives Congresswoman Mikie Sherill (NJ), Congressman Joseph Morelle (NY) and Senator Chuck Schumer’s Offices. Dr. Willis advocated for the following:

  • Doubling Pell
  • Restore the automatic inflation adjustment and restore Pell to full mandatory funding
  • Extend Pell Grant eligibility to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students
