Nursing Faculty Member Publishes Article

Lisa Zarnello published an article  titled “Implementing trauma-informed care across the lifespan to acknowledge childhood adverse event prevalence: Best clinical practices” in the January 2023 issue of The Nurse Practitioner.

Adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress in childhood have been correlated with negative physical and mental health outcomes, poor social outcomes, and early mortality.

Lisa Zarnello’s (MSN, RN, FNP-C) article provides a general overview of trauma-informed care and discusses current best-practice recommendations and models of care, providing NPs with practical ways to empower a trauma-informed approach to care in their daily practice setting. She was mentored through this process by Dr. Elizabeth Heavey in NUR 610 Professional Writing.
