Joint Planning & Budget Committee Update
The JPBC is a presidential advisory committee representing the University community. It serves as the institutional oversight body to ensure that institutional goals and division level planning and budgeting are interlinked and informed by assessment to advance the strategic goals and priorities established in Building a Better Brockport, the strategic plan for the University. The committee meets on select Thursdays from 8:30 - 10:30 am throughout the academic year. Meetings are open and the SUNY Brockport community is encouraged to attend.
Recently, JPBC received presentations on budget updates from BASC and DIFR. Vice President of Administration and Finance, Jim Wall, also provided a staffing update and an update on rollovers from the last fiscal year. A portion of last year’s rollovers were allocated for Investment Funds for 23-24 projects, and in early February, JPBC announced a call for Investment Fund proposals which are due by March 17. In January, JPBC reviewed a report submitted by a subcommittee of JPBC that included recommendations so that the University can operate without a structural deficit. This report was subsequently forwarded to the President who indicated it would be reviewed by President’s Cabinet as part of an upcoming budget retreat.
The next JPBC meeting is scheduled for February 23 which will include an update on the structural deficit and Cabinet’s budget retreat. Admission and enrollment data also are expected to be shared. The Teams links will be provided in the Daily Eagle prior to the meeting.
