Theatre Professor Directs Cold War Drama

Frank Kuhn, Professor of Theatre, directed a streamed production of “Love Letters from the Cold War” by Joseph Ryan to raise money through donations for Direct Relief Ukraine.

Love Letters from the Cold War is composed of “back-channel” letters between U.S. president John F. Kennedy and Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev over the course of Kennedy’s term in office.

Covering the Bay of Pigs invasion, Cuban missile crisis, construction of the Berlin wall, and the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the dialogue was supported by documentary photographs and an original score. Produced by Metropolitan Virtual Playhouse, the video was streamed the last week of December, raising $1,300 in viewers’ voluntary donations for Direct Relief in Ukraine.
