Political Science Student Wins EuroSim Award
The Brockport EuroSim club competed against 12 European and six American universities on January 4 - 7, 2023, in Newport, Wales. Justin Brewer earned the prestigious “Best Delegate Award.”
The Brockport chapter of the European Union Simulation club (EuroSim) upheld its determination to successfully compete internationally at the annual multi-day event hosted this year in the United Kingdom over winter break. For four days, over 160 students simulated European Union policy making by role playing their alter egos to the best of their ability.
Political Science major Justin Brewer played Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his negotiation efforts were rewarded by his peers who voted him “Best Delegate.” This is the first time in five years that an American student has won an award at the conference. Justin and the entire club practiced and worked hard all fall semester to prepare for the conference and it paid off.
Afterward, the club visited various parts of the UK including London and Edinburgh, then travelled to Ireland to experience Galway and Dublin. SUNY Brockport will host the next edition of EuroSim in spring 2024 and it will be open to all majors.
