Justin Techmanski

HIGHER EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION (MSEd)
The courses, connections, and opportunities in his graduate degree program set Justin Techmanski up for success, fueling his desire to serve students to a new level.
As an undergraduate student at SUNY Oswego, Justin Techmanski, from Liverpool, NY, was in pre-health and seriously considering going into the medical field. However, in his junior year, his passion for biological sciences disappeared. What he loved about college was everything to do with the campus. From student activities to academic affairs, he wanted to be involved in any capacity possible. He continued and earned his baccalaureate in biology but started looking for student-focused graduate programs. His search led him to Brockport’s Higher Education Administration (MSEd).
What stood out to Justin about the Higher Education Administration program were the short time to get his degree, the affordability, and his ability to work while in graduate school. Additionally, he liked the wide breadth of courses. He took classes that covered a wide variety of topics that higher education administrators are presented with every day — legal, health, ethical and social issues. And there were many opportunities to expand his professional network throughout the state and beyond by connecting with his classmates and professors.
Justin maintained a 3.96 average and has enjoyed his experiences at Brockport. “In my 6th month of study, I landed a job as a professional Academic and Career Advisor with the College of Arts & Sciences/Maxwell at Syracuse University,” he said. “I owe my job placement to the fantastic personal and technical skills that Brockport has given me.”
He sees more education in his future.
“The program at Brockport has fueled my desire to serve students to a new level. After graduation, I plan to pursue my PhD in Higher Education at Syracuse University to further my technical skills and training to be better equipped to serve students,” said Justin.
