Mental Health Counseling

Missy Feola, from Rochester, NY, is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Science in mental health counseling. She chose SUNY Brockport because she was able to take courses at her own pace while balancing her professional and personal responsibilities. Missy also likes that the program provides experiential hands-on learning and focuses on inclusivity, which is especially meaningful.

Her advice to prospective students is to take everything one day at a time rather than looking too far ahead. She said, “Be sure to listen to yourself and know when it’s time to take a break or rest/reset and prioritize your well-being.” Missy suggests that you should connect with your classmates in order to build a support system as you work toward your degree.

In her free time, she travels and likes to be out in nature as well as go to concerts with her friends. Missy also watches dogs on the side and loves taking them on long walks.

Missy welcomes your questions about her experience as a graduate student at SUNY Brockport to aid in your graduate school search process.
