African & African-American Studies Professor Publishes Book Chapter
John Karefa Marah, African and African-American Studies Professor, publishes a chapter in a book on Modern Africa.
Senior Professor Dr. John Karefa Marah published a chapter entitled “The Political Economy of Contemporary Africa: Lessons from the Scrambles for Africa in the book Who Owns Africa?: Neocolonialism, Investment, and the New Scramble from Leuven University Press.
Dr. Marah has been toiling quietly in the Department of African and African-American Studies for more than thirty years where he teaches about Africa through literature. He is a globally recognized expert in Pan-Africanism, a widely published writer of fiction, poetry, and scholarly articles and books. His most recently published books are Pan-African Education: A Must for the African Union (2017) and the novel Dining with the Devils (2018). Some people call him Docta.
Some call him Chief. Others call him Papa. The Department just call him John, and feel blessed to have him in their department.
