Emeritus Environmental Science & Ecology Professor Nominated for Creative Writing Award
A recent photo essay of creative nonfiction by Chris Norment, Emeritus Professor of Environmental Science and Ecology, has been nominated for both a Burroughs Nature Essay Award and Pushcart Prize.
The essay, “Of Mice and Botflies,” was published online by Terrain.org. It is based on research on white-footed mice that Chris conducted in the Brockport Woods from 1993 through 2021. In addition to white-footed mice and botflies, the essay visits theodicy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis.
