Abbigail Sokolofsky

Mental Health Counseling

asoko2@brockport.edu

Abbigail Sokolofsky is currently a graduate student in the Department of Counselor Education with an emphasis on mental health counseling.

She chose Brockport because she liked that the counselor education program focused on self, which was different than any other program she had looked at, and it showed her the program cares about its students. They want us to be the best version of ourselves to be able to best help our future clients.

A piece of advice from Abbigail is to read your syllabus in depth. “It’s a roadmap to each course you take here. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Whether it’s another student, teacher, administration, everyone is helpful,” she said.

In her free time, Abbigail love to craft! She paints vinyl records and finds that this creative outlet is an excellent form of self-care. She also loves animals, having two chinchillas (Snickers and PrimZ) and a pug (Cobalt).

Abbigail welcomes your questions about her experience as a graduate student at SUNY Brockport to aid in your graduate school search process.
