Theatre Professor to Direct “An Enemy of the People”

Maria Scipione, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Theatre and Music Studies, will direct the classic play “An Enemy of the People” at the Harley School on November 10-12, 2022.

“An Enemy of the People” was written in 1882 by Henrik Ibsen. In 1950 Arthur Miller adapted it for a more contemporary audience. But this play could have been written yesterday. The negative effects of science denial on the environment and the community are fully explored.
In the theatre, we cannot teach the scientific techniques needed to remove carbon from the atmosphere, but we can illuminate the high cost of doing nothing. Our hope is to enlighten and enliven. We hope to spark the passion and political will needed to save this planet.

The performance will be held at The Harley School, 1981 Clover St, on November 10-12, at 7 pm. The November 12 performance will be ASL Interpreted. No reservations required. Masks are strongly recommended.
