Student Teaching Candidates Participate in Safe Teacher Workshop

Student teaching candidates in the Childhood and Adolescence Inclusive Education Programs and three college supervisors participated in a Safe Teacher Workshop offered by Stephen Fiorino at Hill Elementary School.

Stephen Fiorino, a fourth-grade teacher at Hill Elementary School, presented a Safe Teacher Workshop to student teaching candidates in the Childhood and Adolescence Inclusive Education Programs and three college supervisors, Lorraine De Siena, Dr. Allison Wright, and Dr. Jie Zhang. Fiorino shared strategies on how to be proactive and de-escalate situations in student-centered teaching. He did teacher modeling and demonstration, as well as invited the participants to practice their learned skills through hands-on activities.

This event helped better prepare student teachers as they get closer to their own classrooms. We appreciate the continued partnership between Brockport Central School District and SUNY Brockport.
