Art Professor’s Sculptures on Display in Two National Exhibits
Jennifer Hecker currently has work on display in two nationally adjudicated exhibitions. “Rain Maker” is in the 8th Annual Glass National exhibition at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia, while “Rain Rustler” is part of Transcending the West, an exhibition at the Artworks Center for Contemporary Art in Loveland, Colorado.
The 8th Annual Glass National highlights the depth and breadth of contemporary functional and sculptural glass artworks being created throughout the country, and it runs through January 8, 2023. Transcending the West explores work by artists who are actively seeking new and even irreverent ways to challenge traditional Western subjects. It closes December 23, 2022.
In both “Rain Rustler” and “Rain Maker” Hecker creates flameworked glass elements that suggest water—a precious natural resource and a symbol of the transient, ephemeral nature of life itself.
