Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema Series Screening in McCue Auditorium

Four internationally award-winning Ukrainian films documenting, creatively contending with, and contextualizing the current war, political, cultural, and humanitarian crises in Ukraine, will be screened in McCue auditorium, at 7 pm on successive Thursdays, from October 20 through November 10, 2022.

Sponsored by the Department of English faculty in Comparative Literature and Film Studies, in conjunction with with the Honors College Honors Gives Back Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine service project, these free film screenings are open to the entire College Community.

The following three films are open to the public:

  • October 20: The Earth is Blue as an Orange (2020)
  • November 3: The Guide (2014)
  • November 10: Bad Roads (2020)

We will update this announcement if Maidan (2014) also becomes open to the public on October 27. Please enjoy these extraordinary, beautiful though somewhat brutal, honest, thought-provoking films.

If you can, please contribute any item on the list of medical and humanitarian aid to the collection boxes listed in the associated links at McCue auditorium, throughout the SUNY Brockport campus and the Brockport community or contribute directly to ROCMaidan.

Join us for a final panel discussion with leaders from ROC Maidan, the humanitarian aid branch of the Rochester Ukrainian Cultural Association, at 7 pm on November 14, in the New York Room.
