Dr. Cody Miller, assistant professor of English education, and colleagues Christian Hines (PhD candidate, Ohio State University) and René M. Rodríguez-Astacio (Assistant Professor, Fresno State University) published an article examining Marvel superheros in youth adult literature in The ALAN Review.

Their article, “With Great Power Comes… Youth Empowerment?: A Critical Content Analysis of Marvel’s Superhero Young Adult Literature” draws on critical youth theory and critical youth empowerment studies to examine how Marvel superhero young adult literature adaptations address youth empowerment and political engagement.
