Covering Controversy: A Showcase of Student Journalism

All are welcome to attend “Covering Controversy: A Showcase of Student Journalism” from 12 to 2 pm Wednesday, May 4, in Studio A in the basement of Edwards Hall.

In a normal semester, Journalism and Broadcasting Majors read about issues related to freedom of speech, cancel culture and racial justice. This semester has been extraordinary because students got a chance to experience these issues first hand, think about them critically while in the midst of facing these issues on campus, and produce work in various forms of media related to these often controversial and misunderstood topics.

On Wednesday, student filmmakers and journalists will present and discuss some of their work at an event in Edwards Hall. Additionally, student journalists from The Stylus, SUNY Brockport’s award-winning student newspaper, will talk about the challenges they faced while covering recent protests.

All are welcome to attend.
