Brockport Students Win SUNYMathics Competition

Three math students filled the podium earning first, second, and third place at a SUNY-wide mathematics competition focused on creative problem solving.

Congratulations to the Brockport students who won top places in the 2022 SUNYMathics competition! Nathaniel Paddock took first place in the competition, Matthew Too tied for second, and Stacey Do tied for third. This was the first time that a SUNY Brockport student finished in the top spot.

The third SUNYMathics competition took place on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Participating students had three hours to solve twelve intriguing problems, problems that inspire creative approaches that draw on multiple branches of the discipline. Brockport Professor of Mathematics Gabriel T. Prajitura founded the competition to celebrate mathematical curiosity and promote a culture of creative problem-solving. Associate Professor Hong Yin conducted the 2022 competition at Brockport.

Dr. Prajitura has published competition’s problems, solutions, and comments are published online.
