The Talon Academy staff shares a big thank you to faculty, staff, students, and our Brockport alumni/family for supporting our males of color.

During our Men of Excellence Ceremony, we received/recognized over 25 nominations (including self-nominations) from faculty, staff, and students themselves.

Some of their involvement include:

  • Talon Academy students,
  • Brockport Student Government involvement (includes Senators and the Brockport Student Government president),
  • Student-Athletes,
  • Provider for family
  • C-STEP/McNair Scholars,
  • Student Organization Executive Team Members,
  • Department Student Workers/ Part-time employees,
  • Resident Assistants,
  • Research Assistants,
  • ROTC involvement,
  • and so much more

In addition to being heavily involved inside and outside of campus, they are tackling their academic involvement by keeping their GPAs up or persevering by taking advantage of the resources on campus to succeed.

These students are managing both their student responsibilities along with their financial, cultural, familial, and social responsibilities. Thank you for acknowledging and/or showing up for the holistic success of our students. When you are engaging with your student(s), please ask them: How do you define success and what does it look like for you?

Last but not least, we want to recognize our (graduating) seniors who participated in the ceremony:

  • Desmond Barber
  • Thales Norzeus
  • Magdeil Gomez
  • Ebenezer Appiah,
