Beyond the Managerial & Bureaucratic: Developing Teacher Leaders for Social Justice

Dr. Henry “Cody” Miller, Assistant Professor of English education, has co-authored a chapter in new book on teacher leadership.

Dr. Henry “Cody” Miller, Assistant Professor of English education, along with Dr. Todd McCardle (Eastern Kentucky University), Dr. Emily Zuccaro (Eastern Kentucky University), and Dr. Mario Worlds (Kanapaha Middle School) have co-authored a chapter in a new book on teacher leadership, The Power of Teacher Leaders: Their Roles, Influence, and Impact (2nd edition).

Their chapter is titled, “Beyond the Managerial and Bureaucratic: Developing Teacher Leaders for Social Justice.” In it, the authors draw on theories of social justice leadership and culturally responsive school leadership to reimagine and redefine teacher leadership as a vehicle to create more socially just schools rather than reify existing inequities by focusing solely on managerial tasks.
