Campus Sustainability Committee Remains Focused on the Future
The college created a Sustainability Committee to spearhead efforts that support this commitment. Activities of the Sustainability Committee are critical to the success of the current strategic plan of the College, Building a Better Brockport. Specifically, the Committee’s work is directly connected to Goal 3: To be a sustainable institution for the 21st century. We aim to cultivate a campus-wide culture that values our public lands, reduces our impact, and celebrates sustainable advancements on an individual and community-wide scale.
Environmental sustainability requires focusing on environmentally responsive facilities operations, planning and design, environmental literacy and education, sustainable procurement, and minimization of waste. Part of our sustainability goal is to ensure that we are not only environmentally conscious but also environmentally proactive.
Committee membership includes a cross-section of the campus community, including students, alumni, staff, faculty, and local community representatives.
We hope this brief introduction to the Campus Sustainability Committee has been helpful and we look forward to sharing more information on our efforts as we move forward.
