Faculty Insight on Lifelong Learning Initiative at SUNY Brockport
Dr. Kristin Heffernan, Dr. Afeez Hazzan, and Dr. Jason Dauenhauer, faculty in the Department of Social Work and Department of Healthcare Studies, co-authored a manuscript reporting faculty insights about the College’s long-standing lifelong learning course auditing initiative. The article entitled, “Promoting age-friendly organizational culture through lifelong learning programs in higher education: Experience and insights from faculty,” was published in Educational Gerontology. This article represents SUNY Brockport’s ongoing efforts toward creating age-inclusive learning environments and the faculty’s commitment toward promoting intergenerational learning opportunities.
Between 2016 and 2022, over 150 adults aged 60+ have audited over 160 different courses representing more than 325 seats. For more information about this initiative, contact Dr. Jason Dauenhauer, Director of Multigenerational Engagement.
