Traditional Dances & Rhythms of Guinea, West Africa

Residency Dates: October 24 – 27 (Camara), February 21 – March 7 (Koumbassa), and February 28 – March 7 (Camara).

Western New York has a well-established community of dancers and musicians connected to the African Diaspora. To highlight those relationships, the Department of Dance will host two master teachers, Youssouf Koumbassa and Mouninatu Camara, whose residencies will focus on the culture of their native Guinea. During his residency, Camara will make a work that will be part of the Spring 2022 Sankofa concerts.

Hartwell Dance Theater features reserved seating for all performances. Please arrive early to ensure being seated by the indicated curtain time. Seating in all other venues will be by general admission. Ticket prices: $17, $12 (Senior Citizens, Brockport Alumni, Faculty, and Staff), or $9 (Students), unless otherwise noted
