How Does LGBTQ Young Adult Literature Represent Relationships Between the Body, Religion & Politics?

Dr. Cody Miller, assistant professor of English education, and colleagues Dr. Robert Bittner and Dr. Summer Melody Pennell published an article examining conversion therapy in youth adult literature in The ALAN Review.

Their article, “We’re Not Sick, We’re Not Straight: Conversion Therapy and the Compulsory Body in YAL” draws on queer disability studies, queer theology, and critical youth studies to examine how religious conflict and conversion therapy practices are enacted on LGBTQ youth to police their bodies.
